OUR LOVE LAY IN RUINS

Our love lay in ruins, a broken ship at sea, Where once we sailed together, in perfect harmony. Now the skies are darkened, and the waves they crash and roar, Tearing our love asunder, leaving only shards and more.   Our hearts once beat in unison, creating a perfect rhyme, But now they're out of sync, beating out of time. Anger and venom, a poison in our veins, Killing off our passion, leaving nothing but pain.   Our love, once a beacon, shining, bright and true, Lightening up our every step and guiding us anew. But now that light is dimming, fading into dark, Leaving nothing but rubble, and broken, shattered hearts.   Silent lips, and chattering fingertips, Our love is now a memory, a ship that once slipped, From the dock of hope and dreams, into the sea of despair, Our love lay in ruins, and we are left with empty air.
