I'll be a bird when I fade away

I'll be a bird when I fade away. A bird of paradise, with feathered wings and freedom's sting. 


I'll flit and flutter, dance and sing, in a world of wonder, where life's a bling. With every beat of my wings, I'll rise, and touch the sky, with a lover's sigh.


I'll know no bounds, no fences to confine, in this world of beauty, I'll be divine. I'll dive and swoop, with graceful ease, and in the wind, I'll find my peace. 


I'll ride the currents, high and low, and in the sun, my spirit will glow.  I'll chirp and trill, with a joyful voice, and in the trees, my song will rejoice. 


I'll be a bird, in my next world, and in my heart, my spirit will unfurl.

I was born in Sergoit, in Uasin Gishu County, Kenya. Memories of this place hold considerable importance to me, not only because they form part of my identity but also because they help me focus my attention on the systemic injustices that my family experienced when we lived here as poor squatters.   At the farm of Jan Ernst Kruger's farm where my family lived, in one of the poorest squatter environments, life was difficult and cruel. 7 Years Later: Was my Volunteering work with VSO Worth?

When I resigned from my job at the National Council of Churches of  Kenya (NCCK) in 2005 to pursue international volunteering with the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in the Philippines, many of my friends thought I had made a terrible mistake.  I was a young professional with a promising career in peacebuilding and many doubted my decision to volunteer overseas in unpaid work.  I wanted to become a volunteer with VSO because I thought this would provide me with the ideal opportunity to work in international development where I would gain valuable   I at Tagbilaran port, Bohol, on a job assignment to Siliman University, Dumaguete  work experience that would increase my prospects for a getting better when I return back to Kenya. Lamenting a marital conflict

Through troubled waters, I sail my boat, Wild winds of the south, they fiercely float. Tears fill my eyes, as I struggle to cope, Ties that bind my family, slowly elope. The constant conflicts, the endless fights, Tired and weary, I face sleepless nights. Judged and misunderstood, I bear the weight, Demands, demands, they never abate.
