Pondering the past, welcoming the future
As the first light of dawn painted the sky in soft hues of gold and amber, I stood at the edge of my homestead, watching the world awaken. The crisp morning air carried the sweet scent of dew-kissed grass, and the distant calls of birds heralded the promise of a new day. For me, dawn was not just the beginning of another day; it was a time of reflection—a moment to pause and consider the path I had walked, the joys I had cherished, and the trials I had endured.
In my youth, the rising sun had symbolized endless possibilities. I had once run barefoot across the green fields of Sergoit in the Rift Valley, my laughter echoing with the whispers of the wind. Those were days of boundless dreams, of friendships forged in the golden glow of morning, and of lessons learned beneath the great acacia trees. The world had seemed full of promise, and I had embraced it with an open heart.
As the years passed, the sun rose high in my life, bringing with it both warmth and shadows. I became a man of purpose, a peacemaker in a land scarred by conflict. The very communities that had once lived in harmony were torn apart by strife, their laughter replaced by sorrow, their fields burned by the fires of discord. I carried the weight of these burdens, seeking ways to mend the broken bonds between neighbors who had turned into foes. Like the midday sun that casts stark contrasts of light and shade, I understood that life was a balance between joy and hardship.
Yet, as twilight approach, I, Kiptoo do not despair. I have witnessed the rebuilding of homes once lost, the rekindling of friendships long thought broken, and the return of laughter to villages that had known only silence. As the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of deep orange and purple, I see hope. The stars emerge, tiny beacons of light in the darkness, much like the peace I have worked so tirelessly to nurture.
In the quiet of the night, I ponder the day’s past—the joys and the sorrows, the laughter and the fast. The dawn had given me energy, the midday had tested my strength, and the twilight has granted me wisdom. As the world slows and night wrap the land in its gentle embrace, I smile. The journey of life is a cycle, and I have lived mine with purpose.
And as another dawn approach, I stand once more at the edge of my homestead, ready to embrace whatever the day would bring.
